PPE Ultraviolet
Disinfecting Device
DON’T TAKE IT HOME WITH YOU!
The Covinator™ disinfecting device provides an efficient, low cost, and consistent method to disinfect PPE items. The Covinator™ utilizes UVC Light that immediately disrupts and destroys the DNA and RNA of viruses and bacteria by inhibiting replication.
The Covinator™ is specially designed to disinfect PPE items such as: masks, phones, keys, paper, badges, watches, stethoscopes, keyboards, computers, mouses and personal items including items containing cellulose-based materials. The Covinator S2016 is lightweight, easily portable, and small enough to fit on any table.
The Benefits
of UV-C Light
- Quick and easy to use
- No dry time
- Reduction of waste – no wipes required
- Proven & effective disinfectant
- UV light in the germicidal wavelength: 254 nanometers
How it Works
The Covinator S2016 uses UV-C light in order to destroy the DNA of various pathogens to effectively disinfect an object placed inside of it. UV-C light is a specific type of UV light that is typically blocked by the O-Zone layer, but it can be produced artificially.
“Ultraviolet (UV) light kills cells by damaging their DNA. The light initiates a reaction between two molecules of thymine, one of the bases that make up DNA. The resulting thymine dimer is very stable, but repair of this kind of DNA damage–usually by excising or removing the two bases and filling in the gaps with new nucleotides–is fairly efficient. Even so, it breaks down when the damage is extensive.”
-Anne Rammelsberg, Chemistry Professor, Millikin University.
• Given enough time many pathogens are able to be destroyed by the use of UV-C light.
• The ideal wavelength of UV-C light used to destroy pathogens is 254 nm, but all UV-C light works to some degree.

Flow Test
Independent laboratory tests have shown that the Covinator effectively maintains respirator flow integrity. The test shows respirators can be disinfected up to 60 times with minimal degradation (deterioration).
The S2016 Covinator allows for quicker cycle times because of the use of indirect light. This is because direct light is incapable of effectively achieving uniformity. The S2016 Covinator has two diffusers, and uses a reflective foil material in order to best reach uniformity. The following UV-C heat maps will show the distinct level of uniformity available to speed up disinfecting time.
These maps are used in order to show the amount of uniformity within the effective usage area (the staging area for the disinfection of objects) of the Covinator S2016. The colors used are based on how different the dosage is from the average dosage within the entirety of the Covinator (everywhere within the Covinator). Uniformity is important because it allows for the entirety of an object to be disinfected quickly while avoiding issues such as deterioration of objects due to high doses of UV-C light in some places and low doses in other spots.
INNOVATIVE
The Covinator S2016 can be used effectively against many pathogens generally disinfecting objects within a short time period. There is a 90% kill rate at 30 sec. In less than five minutes the Covinator S2016 can disinfect with a kill factor of 99%. The Covinator S2016 does all of this with minimal degradation to the PPE objects disinfected.
